The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas is an organization of 41, 920 barangays comprising the Republic of the Philippines . Organically, its mandate is rooted in the Local government Code of 1991, which provides for the formation of Leagues in all levels of the local bureaucratic hierarchy.
The Liga ng mga Barangay - Cebu Chapter is composed of 1,096 barangays from forty seven (47) municipalities and four (4) component cities, namely; Talisay City (1 st District), Toledo City (3 rd District), Danao City (5 th District), Lapu-lapu City (6 th District).
As an organization, the Liga serves as a venue for the barangays to articulate, ventilate, and crystallize issues affecting barangay government administration and securing solutions to these issues through proper and legal means.
Organizationally, the Liga ng mga Barangays has chapters at the provincial, city and municipal levels, making it the only non-government institution that has presence nationwide.
